Help for victims of torture
As torture becomes a favored method of interrogating suspects, the Center for Victims of Torture will have an increasingly important role to play, particularly (I think) for those who were innocent of any wrong-doing (like, say, Maher Arar and Khaled al-Masri and others still to come) but were tortured on suspicion of what they might know or might do.
CVT has pointed out practical problems in using torture as a source of information, but the Bush Administration and the GOP seem determined to charge ahead with institutionalizing the practice.
