Is traditional shaving growing?
A new shaver asked in the ShaveMyFace.com forum whether traditional shaving—brush, shaving soap or cream, safety razor, and double-edged blade—was growing. I think that it is based on three observations:
- Prices of vintage safety razors on eBay have been steadily increasing
- The number of on-line vendors that specialize in traditional shaving is increasing
- The variety of traditional shaving supplies in each category (brushes, shaving soaps and creams, razors, and blades) is increasing.
All that strongly suggests that more men are getting involved in the activity.

I think that the rapid growth of the several wetshaving forums shows increased involvement. A few new users say it is the only way they have ever shaved, but most seem to have noticed the wetshaving activity on the Internet and become interested, then involved, themselves. I know that was my route about 13 months ago.

Searching the Internet was my introduction to traditional wetshaving. The forums got me more interested, too.
