There's a new kind of drug store in town. And they don't sell birth control pills, or the morning after pill, or condoms, or anything else that makes Jesus cry. They're called DMC Pharmacy, a Christian drug store that thinks sex is for making babies and nothing else. So come on down to DMC, the Pro-Life pharmacy where you can buy all the Vicodin you want, just make sure not to wear any condoms when you have some of that hot and sloppy Pill-Sex. Check out their circular for great deals: http://www.236.com/news/2008/06/16/finally_a_drug_store_thats_not_7169.php

You're perfectly correct. I was attempting to draw a comparison between Islamic and Christian theocrats. In fact, I devoted the first paragraph of the post to that parallel. It's certainly true that the Christian fundamentalists have, for the most part, not killed the opposition, save for the occasional person working at a health clinic that provides abortion. But the parallel I attempted to draw in that first paragraph was not so much to the murderous tendency of some but to the willingness---nay, eagerness---to impose fundamentalist religious beliefs on all of society. I could also have included a story about the strong support for abstinence education in place of sex education (despite the fact that abstinence education doesn't even accomplish its own goals so well as true sex education), the insistence on teaching Creationism in science classes, and so on.

I did not mean that Christian and Islamic fundamentalists are exactly alike in all ways. Sorry you took it that way.

interesting headline, you don't mention the taliban in the entire article so presumably this was just an attention grabbing headline...

nonetheless, to compare a pharmacist who doesn't sell contraceptives to the taliban - who kill people for wearing the wrong clothes, listening to music, shaving or not shaving properly, women for going to school, non-muslims, and the list goes on and on...is somewhat absurd...there is no moral equivalence

the free market will make another pharmacy more profitable...
