Fleur de Soul
A Mama Bear shaving soap for the stash of untried soaps. This one turns out to be quite nice, with a floral fragrance that I quite like, and the lather created with the Emperor 3 was excellent. I used the short-comb version of the Gillette NEW and it did a fine job. Finally, a finish with Swiss Pitralon and a walk into the kitchen for coffee.

Hi Michael, I noticed you haven’t been mentioning your “Oil Pass” step lately.
For Christmas my nephew gave me a shave gel/cream called Hydroplane by Billy Jealousy. At first I wasn’t going to use it since it is “brushless”, but since last Saturday I started to use it in place of the oil for my Oil Pass. Just a extremely small dab half this size of a pea with a tad of water. Well let me tell you, this stuff is SLICK. I have to admit I have been geting some of my best & smoothest shaves. This stuff comes in an 8 oz container, enough to last a life time. Interesting stuff to replace the oil. Have you heard of this product? I googled it and it sells for around $20.00 on amazon.
Happy & Healthy New Year to you and your Family……David

Yeah, I liked the oil pass, but the temptation of a quicker shave seduced me into three passes (with, across, and against the grain), which nowadays general provides a good smooth shave. But your post intrigues me. I have a tube of Avalon Organic Lavender shaving cream (also a brushless cream) that someone recommended for the third pass, which I tried. But I very much enjoy applying the lather with a brush, and not using the brush a third time proved unappealing. But now I think I’ll try it for a polishing pass, much as you use Hydroplane. And I’ll probably give Hydroplane a try.
Many thanks for commenting and stirring up the shave routine. We all need to avoid getting into a rut.
