Morning report

Turning on the air cleaners has helped a lot with sneezing and coughing and led to better sleep. The hot-air furnace must be spraying dust about.

Making a bunch of greens the centerpiece of a meal results for me in a dish large enough so that from it I can get lunch and dinner and sometimes another lunch as well. I can see the problem for the non-retired: if you try on a weekly shopping to buy 7 bunches of greens, you have room for nothing else in the refrigerator. I generally buy three bunches (= three days) at a time. The result of this approach has been meals that are healthful, tasty, and varied—you can do a kind of stir-fry, a sort of stew, or even a salad approach. With cheese and eggs and a little milk, a quiche-like dish is possible (crustless, for me). Lots and lots of greens and vegetables and very little meat. My morning blood glucose reading has dropped since I started this.

I prefer colorful varieties to less colorful—I practically cannot buy regular cabbage since my hand moves of itself to the purple cabbage in the next bin. Similarly, I find it hard to buy Swiss chard when red chard is available. But I did have Swiss chard last night, and my! but it’s tasty. It was Swiss chard that brought the quiche idea to mind.

Last night I enjoyed Sukiyaki Western Django, but I do recommend first viewing the original Django that spawned so many other movies. If you do watch that first Django, I highly recommend the special feature short on how it was made and the star was chosen.

It’s quite wonderful to have the Bush Wrecking Crew out of government. Things feel better already.
