H&K G11

with 4 comments

My all-time favorite assault rifle is the H&K G11. It also uses a bullpup design, but the big change is in the ammo, along with the feeding mechanism. More info here and here.

  1. These weapons related posts seems out of place with all your other posts. I don’t get it. Am I missing something?

  2. No, you’re not missing anything. It does perhaps seem a little anomalous, but I do find weaponry fascinating. That may be due to the time and place I grew up: small-town Oklahoma in the 40′s and 50′s. I went squirrel hunting on my uncle’s farm with my father’s .22, for example.

The H&K G11, with its caseless ammo, seems like a very good infantry weapon. I’m disappointed that it’s never been widely adopted. (This particular interest might be a part of my Quixotic interest in rational systems: the Shaw alphabet, the Dvorak keyboard, Esperanto, Go, and the like.)

  3. I do occasionally think it might be nice for your readers if you ran several more focused: shaving, politics, food, & misc. It’s certainly easier for me that they’re all in one blog since I’m really reading as someone who is related to you. But if I read mainly because I was interested in, say, shaving, I’d probably eventually stop reading because the blog didn’t really focus on my interest.

  4. A few have mentioned this. I do tell people (e.g., in my shaving reference post) that they can use this site by category: e.g., use “Category search” to list only posts in a given category, or subscribe using something like “http://leisureguy.wordpress.com/category/shaving/feed/” (without quotation marks) to get only shaving posts.

I realize I cut down on my readership somewhat by mixing in everything I’m interested in, but since I really don’t depend on readership (i.e., click counts) for anything, I can be more idiosyncratic.

Still, it’s worth thinking about, and I can of course create new blogs at will using WordPress.com. So I’m thinking…
