Irisch Moos and Alt Innsbruck

with 5 comments

An extremely nice shave today: a great lather with Irisch Moos and the Rooney 2, then a wonderful shave with the Futur and a much-used but still-sharp Astra Keramik blade, and finally a splash of Alt Innsbruck which this morning made its menthol content clear.

  1. Nice combo. I got myself a stick of the Irisch Moos a few weeks back; a wonderful lather with a great scent. I’ve read lots of good things about the Alt Innsbruck too.

I like the look of your brush. I’m thinking of getting a Rooney next, specifically the 3/1 Silvertip as I like to face lather.

  2. I’d like to know how much used that “much-used” Keramik is. I’ll be using mine sometime next week for the sixth time. I do use Pacific’s blade oil after each use of my blades.

LG – Ever try SE razors, whether a GEM or injector type?

Gavin, Irisch Moos shave stick is very nice indeed. I’m not a fan of Alt Innsbruk though, that’s why stores that sell sample bottles (decants) are valuable. Try a sample, maybe you will like it better than I do.

  3. @Gavin: The Rooney 2 is my favorite—I had a super silvertip before getting the finest. But tastes is brushes—surprise!—varies. :)

@Don: I have both injectors and the GEM G-bar (the best of the GEMs, so far as I can tell). A search on “injector” and a search on “gem” will find the posts. Neither one works so well for me as a regular double-blade safety razor.

  4. Hi Michael,

Where is the best and most inexpensive source for Irisch Moos stick?

  5. I actually don’t know currently. I got mine from Bullgoose, but that was a while back.
