Proraso all the way
The Proraso soap made a fine lather with the G.B. Kent BK4, and then the Mühle open-comb with a newish Astra Keramik blade executed three flawless passes. A splash of Proraso, and I’m off to a late start.

…interesting because here, and also earlier in this chronicle, you express considerable satisfaction with the Muhle open comb…yet in your book, if I recall correctly, you state a definite preference for the Merkur style head with the blade held above the comb on a “coat hanger” base.
Does your more recent experience with the Muhle change that thinking? In my own admittedly limited experience I get a very good shave with either head design, assuming a good prep and a sharp blade.

You’re absolutely right: though I like the coat-hanger design, I have to admit that in the case of the Mühle, the blade-on-teeth design works fine. I no longer have my Merkur open-comb razor, but I suspect I would find that same: a good shave can be had with either design.
