Boar-brush practice
Now that I know the boar-brush secret—spend at least 30 seconds by the clock loading the brush with soap—I had to try it again, this time on a non-tallow soap. I worked up lather to load the brush for around 20 seconds (and discovered that my default time with this brush was probably 5 seconds) and I got two good passes before returning to the bowl to refresh the brush. Possibly if I’d loaded the brush a little longer it may have lasted better, but I’m betting that tallow soaps work best with boar. More experimentation coming.
Three passes with the iKon bulldog open comb, a splash of Classik, and I’m ready for Pilates. (I already did 21 minutes on the Nordic, and I’m almost at the end of Robinson Crusoe.)

Good to see you using the boar again, I swear by them.
I’ve been using my Omega 10005 exclusively for almost a year now and have found to be true that which you suspected- they work best with tallow-based soaps. With MWF, Cella and Tabac I get superlative lather. However, with my Trumper’s Sandalwood, I have to hit the puck again for my final pass, much as you did with the Sweet Gale. As I much prefer tallow-based soaps, boars are perfect for me.
Another thing I’ve found is that my boar works best when taken to the soap in a very wet state. I soak my brush whilst showering, take it from the water, let it stop dripping, give it a gentle downward shake then go to town. Works every time.
Now waiting on my Semogue Owners Club boar in the mail. Can’t wait!
