3-D printing
New Scientist in this issue has a little collection of articles on 3-D printing, certainly a fascinating technology. The least expensive 3-D printer seems to be the MakerBot, and at the link is a collection of YouTube videos of things being made. MakerBot’s website has more info.
Spicy shrimp salad with arugula and mint
This sounds very tasty and certainly it’s easy enough.
UPDATE: Extremely tasty. Arugula and mint go together exceptionally well—who knew? The shrimp cook almost instantly. (I used cast-iron skillet.) I went a little heavy on the lemon juice and will cut back somewhat the next batch, but this is definitely one to repeat.
Gillette Aristocrat, Jr.
A very nice shave indeed. I this time remembered to use the Alt-Innsbruck pre-shave. Like all pre-shaves, it didn’t seem to do much more me. It is important to shake it, BTW: I squirted out a tiny amount, then remember to shake it well, and squirted out a bit more—this time of quite a different consistency.
The QED Mocha Java, OTOH, was excellent, as always. This is a great stocking stuff for a traditional shaver: wonderful and unsual fragrance and a hearty lather. The Vie-Long shaving brush (this one, but in brown) is amazing. I note that it is 50% mane hair, 50% tail hair, and it whips up a lather like nobody’s business. I don’t know why it took me so long to notice how good horsehair brushes are at making lather, but now I get it. Man, they’re nice.
The British Gillette Aristocrat, Jr., has a small diameter handle than the Rocket, but a heavier head with a large flat base plate. (I angled the open razor to give you a look, but the angle’s still not quite right. Here’s a second look:
Focus is still a challenge, but you get the idea. A very nice razor and with the previously used Astra Superior Platinum blade, it did a terrific job.
I’m growing increasingly fond of Coral Skin Food.
