Stocktaking: Xmas shopping
We need to wrap up our Xmas shopping soon. I like to ship the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to avoid Xmas rush and lines. (The PO is pretty empty the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I find.)
We’re in pretty good shape—I have The Wife’s gift, for example—but still a few odds and ends to get.

I admire anyone who can pull this off;
if you really want to enjoy the season, how better than to not have to go shopping.

It does make for a relaxed Christmas season. I’m surprised more people don’t follow this practice: buying presents over the course of the year—because quite often seeing an item will bring to mind the perfect recipient—and then getting the whole lot wrapped and shipped before things become hectic. To me, this seems much easier than the other route: rushing around at the last minute, paying through the nose for what’s available, and standing in long lines to buy, ship, etc.

I’m trying a mix of DIY gifts and locally-purchased gifts, this year. Cheaper, better for the environment, and I can write about it on my blog
