D.R. Harris Marlborough & the Super Speed
An extremely pleasant shave today. I had to use my Rooney Style 2 Finest once more: a very fine brush. D.R. Harris shave sticks are excellent—The Son has an Almond one—and produce a very nice lather indeed. Start with brush sort of shaken out, and add driblets of water as you work up the lather on your beard.
My rhodium-plated (thanks to Razor Emporium) Gillette Super Speed did a very nice job with a previously used Astra Superior Platinum blade. I focused on keeping the cap’s edge in contact with my skin, and the stubble just slides off.
A splash of Marlborough aftershave, and I’m ready for a good day.

Is the DR Harris Marlborough Aftershave effective at calming the face? I like the the shave stick, but wish the scent lasted longer, therefore I’m considering buying the aftershave to not only help with post shave conditioning, but also to make the smell last longer. Thanks for your help.

I like it, but it’s not a balm. That is, my face is pretty calm anyway. It’s a pleasant aftershave, alcohol-based but including the usual glycerin and other things to help. That said, it’s not a strong fragrance, which is probably to the good. But it definitely lingers longer than the soap. Soap scents seem effective for only the duration of the shave.
