Dead blender
My Osterizer blender just died: the smoke escaped from the little motor and it runs no more.
What is a good blender? I’m thinking BlendTec.

There are other less expensive ninja models, but if you don’t want to change blades and receptacles, then the link i suggested above is top of the line, you will never regret it.

That looks very good indeed, and the price is very good. Thanks, Nick.

Welcome..! and just an additional note that here in the office, after I bought mine, 5 other people are owners as well and they all love it, no problems after over a year of intense use, be careful touching the blades though they are Ninja, ‘Hattori hanzo’ steel sharp .

Or why not another Oster, depending on how long the first one lasted? I have had mind into the double digits of years and it is still going grand.

The Wife has a juicer that amounts to a very skookum blender that she seldom uses, so I’m going to go with that for now. I used it to finish up this batch, and while it’s not ideal, it gets the job done, and pepper sauce is the main task of late.

Your blender burnt out on hot sauce? heh.

I went back-and-forth before I finally bought my new blender (a year and a half ago); I ended up getting the VitaMix and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

The thing I have is a Back to Basics smoothie maker. In fact, I’m going out later to get some yogurt, apples, celery, and ginger and play at making a smoothie.
The top three I found in looking through reviews are (in ascending order of price) the Ninja 1100, the Blentec Wildside, and the VitaMix. The Ninja has odd reviews on Amazon: a mix of 5-star and 1-star, in effect. The price—around $170—is *way* lower than the Blendtec’s $475. The Blendtec has various models but they differ only in the jar: the base units are the same. And though the base unit has two styles, they differ only cosmetically: one is designed to sit on the counter, the other to be mounted beneath the counter with the unit sticking up a bit through a hole in the counter. The VitaMix is the tallest unit and is the most expensive—depending on model, of course.
I’ll stick with the smoothie maker I have for now, but it’s quite an active product category.

I’ve been tempted by the Vita-Mix for years, but the price is painful. Still…it’s been around forever and it spins at speeds way beyond conventional blenders, allowing you to make hot soup without any reheating.

Smoothy was pretty good. If you use ginger, use a piece about the size of a quarter, no bigger.
The VitaMix height I sort of don’t like. I ended up preferring the Blendtec. But I’m sticking with the smoothy maker for now.
