Another beautiful straight razor
This thread at wicked_edge gives the story of the razor, a custom job, and links to other views. it really is stunning and I love its whimsical spirit—though obviously a serious tool.
I’m just getting interested in single-malt scotch, thanks to the samples The Wife gave me, and the two—single-malt scotch and straight razors—seem of a type in admitting of infinite desirable variation: you’ll never know them all, never collect them all, and even not more than scratch the surface—yet they’re still desirable.
Of course, a lot of things that people collect have this very property, which triggers the collecting: wrist watches, pocket knives, wines, whatever: all with many levels of quality and much variation within levels.
At any rate, I admired this one and thought you might as well.
New shaving forum
SimplyShaving.net has closed its virtual doors, but a new forum has sprung up: ShaveNook.com
They’re having an opening contest, so stop by and check them out. Each forum seems to develop a unique personality, and it will be interesting to see this one develop.
Good thriller: Point Blank
I reluctantly returned to Netflix Watch Instantly because I wasn’t finding enough of the kind of movies I like elsewhere. I just finished watching a very good French thriller, Point Blank.
