Food notes from the old apartment
I found this note attached to the inside of a cupboard door. Sounds like good advice, but I have no idea of the provenance:

I have to have more carrots and avocados. I frequently use jewel yams in my Melange, so I’ll just make sure always to have it. Probably will pick up some chopped walnuts or pecans to add to the breakfast hot cereal. And I need broccoli more often. Maybe I’ll cook some up and chop and toss with oil and vinegar (and maybe chopped scallions, grated carrots, and chopped pecans) to have as a side salad.
UPDATE: Could add avocado, sardines, and cooked diced yams to the broccoli salad for a one-dish meal: protein, starch, oil, and veggies. I think I’ll do it.
