Sultans Shave Soap and a fine shave
Another BBS shave today. I have to say that I do enjoy the sensation.
The Sultans Shaving Soap shown is a complimentary tub—I normally buy my products, but they wanted me to try it. The product has gone through multiple iterations, and this one seems to be the latest (and perhaps last). For some reason this company is chary of putting a list of ingredients on the package, which I think is a mistake. Guys do like to know what they’re putting on their face, especially since some have known skin sensitivities—compare the label above with (say) the label in this post.
That said, I did get a very fine lather using the Vie-Long horsehair brush shown—and once again I do find that horsehair brushes have a wonderful feel: softer than boar, more resilient than badger. The lather worked up well, and was both thick and long-lasting. No complaints, save for the label. (And since shaving soap is a cosmetic, I believe that they must eventually list ingredients.)
Three passes with the English Red-Tipped Super Speed holding a Swedish Gillette blade, and perfect smoothness the result. A good splash of test sample #1 of the aftershave, which I like quite a bit.
I’m feeling good.

Sultans jars now have updated labels and we will be offering 2 seperate formulas in the next few weeks. We have changed our process method this week and are confident the new formulas will be among the best.

Excellent. I’ll be using the sample you sent, and when the products with the updated label is available, let me know and I’ll buy one.
