The upcoming government shutdown

leave a comment »

Looks as though the government will shut down the end of this month. A couple of points to note and to repeat:

1. Funding the government is the unique responsibility of the House of Representatives.

2. The House of Representatives is currently controlled by the GOP.

That’s about it. If you cut through the blather, the fact is that a shutdown of the government is due to a choice freely made by the Republicans in the House of Representatives. That is their view of governing.

I think that this should open some eyes.

Obama’s comment: “I cannot remember a time when one faction of one party promises economic chaos if it can’t get 100 percent of what it wants. That’s never happened before. But that’s what’s happening right now,” the president said. “The Affordable Care Act … was an issue in last year’s election and the candidate who called for repeal lost.”
