Skype Journal

The Skype Journal is a useful and informative on-line publication about Skype-related news. Well worth bookmarking if you’re a Skype user.

View from an eagle

with one comment

An Occasional Reader has sent this link: a one-ounce TV camera shows the view from a golden eagle in flight. Pretty cool.

Firefox quicklinks

This information is probably old news to Firefox users, but I know my readers include some novices.

First step: click View, Toolbars and make sure there’s a checkmark next to Bookmarks Toolbar. (If not, click it and that will make it appear and place the checkmark.) The Bookmarks Toolbar may already contain some links. If there are any you don’t want, right-click the link and then select “Delete” from the pop-up menu.
In the Firefox address bar, where lies the URL for the current page, you see a symbol at the left end. On this page, right now, the symbol is the WordPress “W” in a circle (if you got to this site via “https://leisureguy.wordpress.com”). Click-and-drag to put that on the Bookmarks toolbar immediately beneath the address bar.

Now, when you click the symbol, it will take you directly to that page.

Put your cursor on the newly placed symbol on the Bookmarks Toolbar, and right click. At the bottom of the little menu, click on “Properties”. You can then change the name that is displayed–make it shorter, for example, so that you can fit more symbols on the bar. (In fact, I use no names at all, so that I can fit as many possible. I recognize the links by their position, or by the special symbol (as for the NY Times), or by hovering the cursor over them, which shows the URL.)

You can click-and-drag the symbols on the Bookmarks Toolbar to arrange them in whatever order you want. Very useful.
