Lesson learned on placement

leave a comment »

I’ve blogged before on the importance of deciding how you’ll dispose of something before you buy it—will it go to the dump? to Goodwill? to eBay? What will happen to it? Because, finally, you will have to get rid of all those things that you can’t take with you, you know.

The other thing, it occurs to me now, is to decide as well (prior to acquisition) where its place will be. When it’s put away, where will it reside?—and thus when you want it, where will you go? If it doesn’t have a place, it will float around here, there, and out of sight and you’ll either forget you have it and buy another or you’ll spend frustrating minutes if not hours looking for it.

I’ve learned that lesson a few—well, many—times and am seriously trying to apply it now that I have to get the placed picked up for the cleaning ladies each fortnight. Having a definite place for a thing is a big help: I know where to put it and, more important, I know where to find it.

MWF shave

with 2 comments

Not Monday-Wednesday-Friday (formerly, those were the days that I shaved—doing what I could to avoid shaving), but Mitchell’s Wool Fat shaving soap, which I used today with the Simpsons Duke 3 Best brush. If you’re not allergic to lanolin, the thick MWF lather will leave your face feeling very smooth and soft.

Guess which razor and blade I used. (Gillette English open-comb Executive and the Treet Black Beauty, day 3 on the latter.) I don’t know how much longer I can continue—I crave variety. But, withal, I did get a fine smooth shave, and the New York aftershave is wonderful.
