Oil companies into Iraq

with one comment

The major American oil companies have worked out a no-bid deal to go after the oil in Iraq. This perhaps explains the urgency of conquering Iraq, but makes me much more interested in those secret meetings Cheney held with all the energy companies to work out an energy policy for the US. Cheney has steadfastly refused to release any details of the meetings or, indeed, even with whom he met. But perhaps the Iraq War was an outcome of those meetings. We could know for sure if only the Bush Administration was not so set on secrecy—a dubious virtue in a democracy. But one can imagine the oil companies telling Cheney, “If you get us in there, we’ll get the oil—and we’ll throw a lot of money to Halliburton.”

  1. Absolutely. And don’t forget to throw in the money taken from us tax payers to pay Blackwater. Funny, the Bush administration likes to pretend it “supports the troops” (Far from it as we know), but their real mission is to support the rich, the powerful, and their corporate cronies. And to hell with anyone who criticizes them.
