Pointing fingers

leave a comment »

It is well known that people who strongly object to pointing fingers are the same people at whom those fingers would be pointed. So as the GOP talks about the financial mess, you hear a lot about how “we should not be pointing fingers—rather we should look to what we need to do.” I’m decreasingly hopeful that one of the interviewers (Wolf Blitzer, Chris Matthews, whoever) will respond, “Do I understand you to be saying that we should not look for the causes of the problem and nor find who is responsible and accountable for the mess we’re in? Just let them completely off the hook? If someone took your life savings, would you be saying that no effort should be made to find out who it was?”
