Diabetes and dental care

leave a comment »

Dr. Charles Martin made an interesting comment to an earlier post on diabetes:

Great post about important research. We encourage people with diabetes to also pay close attention to their dental hygiene. Gum disease and type 2 diabetes are closely linked, and the interconnectedness is a two-way relationship – that is, they both make each other worse. Fortunately, routine dental services can prevent dental complications of diabetes or, if already present, even reverse them. We’ve written a lot on our blog about the importance of dental services in diabetes care at http://dentistryfordiabetics.com/blog.
