Cool disposable pocket knife

with 5 comments

I read about these in Cool Tools, and my package of 10 arrived just today. They’re great! Good to have on hand, and to carry one with you.

  1. From the website: “Half the charm is its disposability”

Must disagree here. My knives last for decades. And counting.

  2. I know what you mean. But transient pleasures have their own charm: the cherry blossom, the butterfly, and the Derma-Safe disposable pocket knife.

I also have a good collection of permanent pocket knives, BTW, including quite a few William Henrys and a few handmade prizewinners.

  3. Also, of course, the main benefit: because the knife is disposable, you can put an edge on it that you would never put on a permanent knife: a true razor edge. Exceedingly sharp AND delicate: perfect application of disposability.

  4. Guess I’ll wait for your report. I hope the knife is sturdier in person than it looks in pictures.
In the meantime, I’ll stick with my folding/locking Gerber and Puma. Somewhere around here I’ve got a folding Buck, too.

  5. Well, it’s certainly not a knife for whittling. But absolutely terrific for cutting string, opening packages, and the like, tasks for which I use my knife the most.
