  1. Fantastic! Just back from two weeks in Florida, you won’t believe how many store employees woulds ask us about the Canadian health care system once they realized from our credit cards that we were from “up North”. The typical question was always: “Is it really as bad as we hear up in Canada?”.

Our answer was always the same: Wonderful (free) health care for urgent problems (by-pass, cancer, etc.), not so great for chronic problems (hips, knees, backs). And the latter is getting better (wait times for hips down to about 6 months). The biggest problem? Not enough doctors and other health care workers since many are attracted by the US and its far more lucrative pay scales. Guess who’s paying for that!
