Another BBS shave, this time with a Sheraton
Yet another extremely nice shave. I think I’m getting the hang of it. The Omega 533 badger brush brought forth the usual “Wow! Excellent lather today!” lather from my D.R. Harris Lavender shave stick, which has a very good fragrance.
Three passes with the Gillette Sheraton holding a Kai blade, and the result was total smoothness. For some reason, I was in the mood this morning for the alum block, so a quick application of that, rinse, dry, and a good splash of Saint Charles Shave Bulgarian Rose with Lemon. Good for the day.
Do you not normally use an alum block? I went from using it after every shave to using witch hazel but know I am feeling that I am missing a step so may try using both alum and witch hazel.

I normally do not use it. I do not suffer from acne or skin blemishes, though. If I did, I’m sure it would be the final step in every shave (well, except for the aftershave).

Is that Sheraton plated in copper? Or is that what it looks like when you strip off the original plating?

It beats me. The top is highly polished with no brassing, but doesn’t really look gold. I’m thinking of sending it for a gold plating.

LG – do you have a preferred source for replating?

I’ve always used Razor Emporium. In the UK there’s RestoredRazors.com, but I’ve not used them. I don’t know of others who specifically specialize in razor refurbishing/replating.
