Trumper Coconut Oil shaving cream and Krampert’s Finest Bay Rum

A request shave. I didn’t have the brush requested (a Savile Row) so I picked the big, soft Omega silvertip shown. The shaving cream is pretty dried out, and in fact I had a little difficulty in getting a good lather going—I’ve become so accustomed to shaving soaps may be some of it, but I think I should hydrate the cream a little.

The Feather AS-D2 with (of course) a Feather blade did a very nice job: 3 passes to a very smooth outcome.

Bay rum seems to go with coconut in my mind, so I picked Krampert’s Finest, which I think really is my favorite. It’s a shake-before-each-use bay rum, and a good splash of that finished the shave in fine style.

Here’s an interesting article on shaving.

  1. Thanks for the shave. I have yet to even nick myself using the AS-D2 with a Feather blade. Unlike most wet shavers, I really hate anything with menthol, mint, eucalyptus, bay rum or sandalwood. I prefer the citrus scents and almond, lime and coconut are my favorites. I am expecting 2 after shaves from Ginger’s Garden – Caribbean Coconut and Coco Lime Cooler. I will report back on how well they fared “later on.”

  2. In that case, I highly recommend Mickey Lee Soapworks’ Italian Stallion aftershave milk. Great stuff. He does sell samples.

  3. I ordered Mickey Lee Italian Stallion and a/s balm. Soap is quite good,a/b is way too strong. My bottle is not a spray as yours is and I e-mailed them as to the overpowering scent. My reply was to add witch hazel, not really proper in my opinion. Also,I inquired re. samples and was advised to request on my next order. The shaving video was interesting but comments were rather strange.

  4. My bottle is not a spray but a pump bottle: squirts out an appropriate amount. Adding witch hazel seems a good idea, to me. It would make it more like a splash, but still quite soothing.

    I at first couldn’t remember the video… I didn’t read the comments, but now I’m curious. 🙂
