And recall how angry we were when it turned out that Bill Keller, NY Times editor, had held back for months the report on the use of illegal wiretaps and surveillance by George W. Bush until after the election and Bush was re-elected (which he arguably would not have been had the story broken during the run-up to the election). We were livid. What were they trying to do? Influence the election by holding the story back?!

And now we need to adjust a bit to be livid because the news organization did not hold it back… to influence an election…

Sure looks like damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
