US militarization of police: A comment by a person who’s served in combat

Robert Mackey has a good article in The Intercept on this image, but I wanted to point out one tweet from the article:[/caption]

Others were reminded of photos of the Tiananmen Square “Tank Man.”

As we now say, “the optics” of this event highlight how the US has changed toward a more militaristic society: not only does our military constantly wage war across the globe (see the earlier post today about our military’s activity just in Africa, much less in the Middle East), but our domestic society has become militarized.
