WSP Monarch, Tallow + Steel Rainforest, and the iKon X3

Tallow + Steel Rainforest has a very nice fragrance, described by the vendor as

Oakmoss + Vetiver + Patchouli + Silver Fir + Frankincense + Cedar + Bergamot + Rhododendron + Wild Orange

The lather was quite good, thanks in part to the Wet Shaving Products Monarch brush. And then the iKon X3 removed lather and stubble with equal ease: BBS after three passes with no problems.

A splash of Rainforest aftershave, and the day begins.

  1. I believe the X3 is a slant you could comfortably shave with every day.

  2. I agree, and if I work down to one razor, it will probably be the X3.

  3. What’s your opinion of the cedar component of this soap’s smell? I’ve read both that it dominates and also that it takes a back seat. The strength of the orange has had a mix of reviews as well.

I plan to pick up this scent as my first T+S purchase – from http://www.canadianbladeco.com as a first purchase from that retailer as well. Based on your reviews I’ll also throw a Dorco PL602 in the cart – why not try it at that price‽

  4. My nose detects the orange easier than the cedar. It’s an interesting fragrance, though, and I like it.

The PL602 makes a great travel razor because it’s an excellent razor, both comfortable and efficient, and if it’s lost, it’s not a big deal. Plus I keep some on hand to give to people who think they might want to try a DE. I’ll be interested in your take on it.
