Gillette TV Special Super Speed goes to auction
The TV Special was made only in 1958, and (as the name implies), it was offered only on TV. It’s a very nice little Super Speed, and this one is in excellent condition. You can see it here on eBay.
Comparing Phoenix Bakelite and Maggard slants, with Zi’Peppino and the Mixed Midget
The Omega Mixed Midget—boar+badger—is a very nice little brush with a good feel and ample capacity. The knot is not especially small, though the handle is diminutive. Still, it’s not difficult to hold and it really does a good job. Zi’Peppino is a very good soap at a reasonable price, and the matching splash carries the theme into the day.
I alternated the Phoenix Bakelite and the Maggard slants as I shaved. I got more blade feel (and thus a little less comfort) from the Maggard, but in general they are closely matched. I will probably use the Phoenix Bakelite more frequently, and when I would reach for the Maggard, I’ll use the X3, which for me is noticeably more comfortable than the Maggard (and more expensive, admittedly: $30-35 vs. $20—but the iKon head is aluminum alloy, a benefit).
A good splah of Zi’Peppino and the week lurches into action.
