H.L. Thäter, Truefitt & Hill, the Stealth, and Easy Street

H.L. Thäter makes good shaving brushes, and Truefitt & Hill made excellent shaving soaps before they reformulated the soap and outsourced its manufacture. The tub shown is pre-reformulation. Oddly, the lather was gone after the first pass. No idea why that happen—shaving has its mysteries—but I simply reloaded (with another soap: Institut Karité) and proceeded.

The Stealth is a good slant and I had no problems in producing a smooth face, to which I applied a good splash of Chiseled Face’s Easy Street.

The non-holiday part of the week now begins.

  1. Ah Truefitt & Hill fond memories of the full treatment, haircut, manicure and exceptional hot towel shave at their establishment in London, courtesy of my wife for a birthday treat. Our ex Prime Minister John Major was sat in the next chair!
The ambience was exactly as you’d imagine, great smells as you enter, wooden floors, shaves and haircuts in the back room sat in old leather barbers chairs imagining times gone by.
