How the GOP has made a practice of lowering the bar and normalizing bad behavior

Maureen Dowd has a good column. From the column:

Conservative author Charlie Sykes told The Post, … “every time something like Montana happens, Republicans adjust their standards and put an emphasis on team loyalty. They normalize and accept previously unacceptable behavior.”

The problem is the extraordinarily high value conservatives place on loyalty, with little value on fairness and caring to counter harm. That won’t change, and it’s doing a lot of damage.
