  2. Really? You must not do much reading on the internet. 🙂

    It seems to be universally advised that one should handle the blade in a DE razor as little as possible, and my own recommendation is to touch the blade twice: once when the razor is loaded, and once when the blade is discarded.

    Naturally enough, sometimes a brand of blade provides only one good shave. That depends on many factors (prep, beard toughness, technique, and brand of blade, for example). However, most men find that that they can get more than one shave per blade. I think I average around 5-6 shaves per blade for the brands I use.

    So the question arises of how to protect the razor against toddler hands when it still has a blade in it and is good for more shaves. The post at the link provides an answer.

    I understand that the suggested solution doesn’t work for you, but I feel fairly certain that you can see that it would work for others, and I like the idea of hijacking the child-resistant cap for another use.

    Hope this explanation helps. I didn’t include it in the post because I thought it was obvious, but perhaps it isn’t.
