Wet Shaving Products Monarch, Phoenix Artisan Solstice, iKon 102, and Alpa 378

Still haven’t found the camera’s battery charger; unpacking continues, though, and eventually it will surface.

The brushes and soaps are unpacked, though, which offers me more choices. The Monarch is a very nice brush, and the lather from Solstice has a wonderful fragrance as well as an excellent consistency and an excellent effect on my skin.

Three passes with the 102 left my face BBS, and a small splash of Alpa 378 finished the job.

I haven’t found the spice racks that hold my brushes, but that’s okay: I have no idea where I’d put them. I have found the aftershaves, but don’t want to unpack them until I find the right location for the little bookcase that holds them.

Unpacking is not so much fun as it should be.

Update: A message from Zungaron on Wicked Edge points out that the Baili BD176 on Amazon is the Baili BR171 in a case. It’s $10 instead of $6, but with Prime (free shipping), it may be the better buy.

  1. How’s the water up north? We moved to a different house that came with a water softener which promptly stopped working three weeks later. I have it in Bypass mode until our mortgage recast goes through. Today, I tried water from our Kenmore Reverse Osmosis system, and it whipped up a wonderful lather with Omega Shaving Cream (croap), and an Omega 48 Brush.

  2. Water here in Victoria is very soft indeed, and Vancouver water is notoriously soft. Great lathers, great slickness.

  3. Had a superb shave today w. the RazorRock DE1 (Baili BR171) and a Treet “black beauty” blade. Have a case from a BD179, which for me doesn’t work so well as the DE1, which fits in the Baili case like it was made for it.

  4. Very good to know. And I agree: the BD179 (the TTO Baili) is for me not nearly so good as the BR171 or the BD176, which is the BR171 plus case.

I think men who wear beards don’t really grasp how pleasurable a good shave can be.
