Shaving news—well, not exactly “news”

with 6 comments

I have installed my cabinet of shaving soaps in my bathroom and also figured out a way to put up the shaving brush shelves, so that is good. I don’t quite have the razor situation figured out, but that will come.

I’m back to no-shave Sundays now that things are becoming settled. I’ve noted that the extremely soft water here makes for great shaves (and showers), and now I discover it also makes great, transparent ice cubes. I must buy some bourbon or rye and some sweet vermouth… (The collection of bitters made the move.)

  1. Nothing like a good Manhattan. When I visited Montreal they made them with Crown Royal.

  2. Excellent point. I’m going with Crown Royal. A Manhattan is made with rye, so one must say “Bourbon Manhattan” to get bourbon (similar to a Brandy Alexander, since an Alexander is made with gin).

I’m also learning to spell “favorite” as “favourite.” 🙂

  3. Try Bulleit Rye.

  4. I certainly like Bulleit bourbon, so I imagine their rye is good as well. I’ll look for it.

  5. Well now that you’re in Canada you might as well take a look for Canadian rye… like Canadian Club 100% Rye, which is made in Calgary AB, or Crown royal’s Northern Harvest Rye, made in Gimli MB. Or… don’t worry about geography and get a drink that you’ll like! Glad to hear you’ve landed and started to settle, etc.

  6. Thank you for the suggestions and the welcome. I would say that in about two more weeks we should be well settled. There’s a process of getting rid of old stuff and getting new stuff to organize the place that takes a little time. But we already very happy to be here.
