The Cube and Mickey Lee’s Pantie Dropper, with the Baby Smooth

The Cube is a pre-shave soap. My long-time stand-by, MR GLO (Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap) is fine, but the Cube intrigued me, particularly the description of Version 2:

CUBE – 8 ounces and 6 sides of solid otherworldliness. CUBE is not your everyday preshave. CUBE takes your shave to another dimension adding extra protection, hydration, slickness and glide. A powerhouse of slick with a kick of Activated Bamboo Charcoal!

  • Scent free = No clashing odor!

  • Sweet Almond Oil, Prickly Pear Oil, Jojoba Wax, & Safflower Oil = Slick

  • Now Contains: Bacuri Butter, Capuacu Butter and Murumuru Butter = Super Slick and Moisturizing!

  • Vitamin E & Aloe Vera = Skin Food

  • Glycerin is a humectant = Draws moisture into the hair, fattening it up & softening it!

  • Packed with Activated Bamboo Charcoal = Deep cleansing with light exfoliation.

  • Mentholated Option = All the same benefits of Scentless CUBE but converts any soap into a cold, cooling shave lather!

  • Adds a noticeable Boost to any lather!

It is quite hefty at half a pound, and also quite bulky. I am going to cut it in half to make two square bars, which I think will be easier to use. And although the one I got (shown in photo) claims it is the “original,” it is in fact not the original, but rather version 2.0. (I did contact them to verify that.)

Old-timers may recall the Marseilles olive-oil soap, also in cubical form, that at one time was a popular pre-shave soap, so the cubical format is well established—but still, I find it awkward in the hand.

It did do a good job, and I’m going to like it. I’ll alternate this with MR GLO for a while to see whether preferences arise, but I’ll note that this costs less than MR GLO and you get a larger amount—plus the formulation is quite intriguing.

I brought back one of the last of the Mickey Lee Soapworks products still available: Pantie Dropper, which I had not previously tried because I found the name somewhat off-putting. It has a pleasant, somewhat light fragrance, and I got an excellent lather using the RazoRock Bruce synthetic brush.

Three passes with the Baby Smooth produced an exceptional result (perhaps due in part to the pre-shave soap), and then a splash of Pantie Dropper aftershave finished the job.

I’m back home and working to catch up. The visit was great, and the grandsons have grown up a lot. The oldest read me a bedtime story this time, even one of the twins (now in Kindergarten) read a little “first reader” book to me.
