Black bean and green lentil tempeh, 30 hours

Looking good, and quite firm. Putting a weight on the packets is totally unnecessary, but I think putting them on a rack is a good idea for the air circulation. I imagine this batch will be done tomorrow night, and then I’ll revisit the peanut-and-kamut version but without curry powder—I can add that when I cook it.

Wilkinson’s shave stick and the blue Baby Smooth

leave a comment »

Wilkinson’s shave stick, unlike Wilkinson’s tub soap, makes a fine lather. I noticed this morning that I wanted a little more resilience in the brush than the Fine Classic can provide, though that varies: some mornings I love the feel of the Fine Classic, though of course I usually use it with a tub soap, where loading is separate from building the lather. With a shave stick, the brush is loaded as the lather is built, so that might account for the difference in my perception.

But still, the lather was extremely good with a sort of neutral pleasant fragrance that one often finds in commercial (rather than artisanal) shaving soaps: the desire to appeal as wide a demographic as possible, which means trying not to offend anyone—and that leads to a certain muting of distinct fragrances.

Three passes with the Baby Smooth in blue, and my face was indeed baby smooth. A splash of New York, and here we are already at the middle of the week.
