A flower-fragrance shave: violet soap and rose aftershave

with 2 comments

The flowers have it today. I like Phoenix Artisan’s synthetic brushes, though I do very much wish he would make some with a 22mm knot. This Solar Flare has a 24mm knot, as does his newest, the Peregrino — a very handsome brush, but still a 24mm knot. (I’ve just now requested that he offer a brush or two with a 22mm knot.)

Still, the Solar Flare works well, and it’s a handsome brush to boot. With an excellent violet-scented lather from the Eufros soap, I had an exceptionally smooth result using that Yaqi DOC razor. Although my skin was extremely smooth, it lacked the soft feel of yesterday’s shave, perhaps because D.R. Harris Pink After Shave lacks the moisturizing effects of Chatillon Lux’s aftershave toner.

Still, a good start to the day.

  1. Very pleased with the Double OC design idea.I was a skeptic until I bought the nickel plated version from Phoenix, and with a sharper brand of blade it is an awesome razor.

  2. It’s interesting that it does seem actually effective. I’ll bring out my aluminum Ascension tomorrow.
