Missed the window for the pumpkin-pie shaving soap — but it’s good anyway

I should have used this on Thanksgiving, but forgot — now it’s in my calendar for the fourth Thursday of November each year.

And a very nice soap it is, too. I used another in the gentle-brush series, my Fine Classic, and the fragrance of the lather was right in the spirit of the holiday. (I think this was a one-off, but various good artisanal vendors will have seasonal fragrances available, so it’s easy enough to find a pumpkin-pie-spiced shaving soap.)

I used my Parker slant (which they call a “semi-slant,” perhaps to reduce the intimidation factor), an excellent razor. Three passes to perfection, and then a good splash of Ogallala’s Bay Rum + Sandalwood, an aftershave I like.

A new week begins as an old month ends. So it goes.

  1. If pumpkin pie shaving soap smells as good as pumpkin flavored ice cream tastes, it’s sure to be a winner!

  2. I received my order of Nancy Boy shaving cream and have shaved with it 3 times now. It’s absolutely one of the best shaving products I’ve ever used. The lather is thick, rich and glossy. It provides lots of cushion, slickness, and leaves my skin feeling moisturized and smooth. However there is a coconut component to the (Signature) fragrance that I’m not terribly fond of. It reminded of a Mounds candy bar when I first opened the jar though that seems to have dissipated since then. Sharing your thoughts on the variety of products and equipment you use provides very helpful information to many. I thank you for that.

  3. Delighted to hear that the product works for you. I’ll check for the coconut fragrance next time I use the shaving cream, but if it is something that dissipates over time, I’ll probably not detect it: I’m close to the bottom of my travel tub, which is three years old.

If you decide to try either of the other creams, do share your impressions. And thanks for commenting and for your kind remarks.
