Merkur Progress and I Coloniali shaving cream (with rhubarb)

with 3 comments

Early start, late blogging. The local famer’s market opened this morning for the first time this year, and I wanted to walk over and see what they had on offer. No spring onions, but Sheringham Distillery was there with Rhubarb Gin…

I really like this shaving cream, now discontinued, and the Progress is a wonderful razor: three passes, totally smooth face, and a splash of Floïd starts the weekend right.

  1. Is I Coloniali still in business? How I wish I had ordered more than one refill puck for this outstanding and beautifully-scented hard soap!
My question to you is, do you know of any other Rhubarb-scented soaps? When I was a smell boy in Fond du Lac, a suburb of Duluth, Minnesota, I remember that we grew Rhubarb in the back yard and my mother made pies from it. Delicious!

  2. Small boy, I meant, though my mom would have disputed this at times!

  3. Rhubarb wine was a big thing in the Amish part of Iowa — Amana and around there.

I remember fondly that mango butter shaving soap that I Coloniali made, in the little terra cotta bowl. I’ve not see that for a while.
