A new slant tries for the Stealth

The color scheme seems somewhat Christmasy, though a patch of white is needed. In the shave, the lather provided that, with a dark chocolate fragrance that was beguiling. This razor is the George Bernard Shaw slant, which in Amazon is listed as “G.B.S Heavy Duty DE Slant Bar Safety Razor with Protective Case – Help for Sensitive Skin – Classic Style: Stainless Steel – Mechanical Strength, Smooth Shave Father’s Day.”
The razor is clearly a knock-off of the RazoRock Stealth slant — same overall (and distinctive) head design — but the Stealth was precision-machined in aluminum and this razor is cast in zinc alloy and then chrome plated. (“Stainless steel” in the description refers only to the handle.) It is a long way from precision machining as was immediately shown by the threading of cap into handle: “approximately right” is a charitable description. I assume they took a Stealth, made a mold from that, and got to work.
It is a half-comfortable shaver, and fully efficient. “Half comfortable” means that one side is comfortable (feels good, not inclined to nick) and the other side is uncomfortable (feels threatening, nicks easily). Still, I finished that shave with only a couple of small nicks, and My Nik Is Sealed easily took care of those. And the good side was actually quite pleasant — that’s the only side I used on the final pass.
A drop of Grooming Dept Rejuvenating Serum followed by a splash of Dark Chocolate aftershave finished the job and set me up for Christmas Day.
I have to admit that I’m a bit disappointed in the GBS razor. I wanted the Stealth to return, but this doesn’t do it justice. Update 17 March 2023 – I discarded the razor. Poor quality.
The tea this morning is Murchie’s holiday-appropriate Ode to Joy: “Black tea, jasmine green tea, calendula flowers, elderflowers, natural and artificial flavouring.”
How to have a good internet experience in 8 easy steps
ghostonly has some excellent advice posted on Tumblr:
#1 – Stop having a bad faith interpretation of every thing you read
If you think something someone said might have been something you disagree with, instead of starting an argument, ask them to clarify or ask them specific questions about what they said
You will be so surprised to find that half the people you assume are being shitty or negative just didn’t phrase what they meant very well
#2 – Learn to block people
It’s free, it’s easy, and it will save your life. Tired of someone tagging your stuff with characters from a fandom you don’t like? Don’t try to control them by telling them not to, just fucking block them. Less upsetting to them, less work for you, less inflammatory, more effective.
#3 – Don’t . . .
